My Take - From Chapter 12 (page 122) of, "Winning Without Winning."

When you coach children you become an authority figure in their lives as well as a role model.  The decisions you make may very well have a life-long effect on each one of those children.  You must consider whether those decisions will create a fond memory for the child, or will those decisions be the reason the child never participates again?  There is far more at stake than winning the game where children are involved.
